Lower Level
  • Latin will be the only independent school in Chicago with a cafeteria for each division, enabling us to focus on the social and nutritional education of each age group
  • Cafeteria also available as a multi-purpose room with storage for tables and chairs
  • Faculty Workroom

1st Floor
  • Raised entry along North Boulevard, creating a buffer from street and sidewalk traffic
  • Reception area and desk, including secure entry and a window seat for students waiting for pick-up
  • Middle School Office for dean and director
  • Six classrooms; all classrooms contain extensive millwork, storage, and tackable and display space
  • Exhibit space in center of building to include tackable display surfaces and glass enclosed display units, area big enough for grade-level gatherings; all floor plans arranged around a central space instead of hallways to foster community and facilitate use of space
  • Lockers located in alcoves, not main areas, to preserve gathering and exhibit space; extra-large lockers and other storage to accommodate large backpacks, sports, and music equipment
  • Raised gardens on east and west sides of the building with direct access from adjacent classrooms

2nd Floor
  • Bridge connecting the Middle School to the Upper School; Middle Schoolers will use the Upper School for drama, physical education, and the library
  • Two regular classrooms
  • Upper and Middle school learning resource centers
  • Dedicated science classrooms and a writing lab
  • Nurse's Office for Middle and Upper School
  • Three faculty suites and a conference room
  • Exhibit space as on 1st floor
  • Locker alcoves and other storage as on 1st floor

3rd and 4th Floors - unfinished, Phase II
  • The proposed height of the Middle School building allows for five levels (the Lower Level and four floors). At this time the Middle School program can be housed within the building's first three levels, allowing the school to plan for the future use of the 3rd and 4th floors.

Roof
  • Green roof accessible to students as a learning environment. Chicago is at the forefront of the green roof movement in the United States, and Latin will be at the forefront of this movement.
  • Most of the roof will be landscaped, students and teachers can use the paved access to study the landscaping and use the roof for astronomy and other class activities.
