• Latin has implemented a breakthrough program for identifying and working with younger children who show signs of reading difficulties.
  • Latin's interdisciplinary Humanities curriculum is looked to as a model by other schools nationwide.
  • Latin's groundbreaking Upper School Nazi Mind history class, which celebrated its 25th year in 2004, and the 2nd grade Ellis Island project, are distinctive learning experiences where students don't just "take a class, they live it."
  • Latin's service learning and tropical conservation programs provide first-hand understanding of the challenges other people and our planet face.
  • Most Latin students do college-level work while still in high school and perform well on a wide range of Advanced Placement exams.
To ensure the school's leadership position in academics, The Campaign for Latin will enable us to:
  • Purchase dedicated science equipment to support Latin's distinctive programs in astronomy, animal behavior, and independent research, adding two state-of-the-art science laboratories for the Upper School and three dedicated science laboratories in the new Middle School.
  • Launch the Latin Initiative for Ethics, a program which brings an ongoing discussion of contemporary ethical issues to Latin.
  • Expand the summer curriculum grant program, through which teachers expand and develop new curricula.
  • The addition of a dedicated Middle School building will expand the physical space per Latin student by 40% and improve academic programming across the board at The Latin School.
  • Provide seed money for other new academic programs, when opportunities arise.
